Raine's Birthday

Plans always change and originally I had planned on having a party for Raine's birthday and maybe one or two of her friends sleep over. Since it would have been her first slumber party I wanted to make her a cake I found online. Even though we didn't have a party I still made the cake but figures I forgot to get some of the items needed to make lol. So it turned out a bit goofy looking but she loved it and I improvised. All we did on Wednsday was send doughnut holes to her class and had stuffed pork chops for dinner. Since she got a Disney Junior Monopoly game we decided to just have a family game night. Boy was she happy about that and completely forgot about having a party. Next year I plan on doing something for her birthday or maybe just what we did this year would be fine for her. Here is the goofy looking slumber party cake I made... It didn't look like the pivture but she liked it just the same.

Twinkies are the girls and I had to put green and pink gel hair on them lol. And I didn't realize I needed at least 9 cans of frosting to do the blanket over the twinkie people so the blanket just covered their imaginary feet. As long as she liked it that's all that mattered and she wanted to eat her twinkie self so I had to cut out the middle of the cake. All in all her 9th birthday was great, we had a nice dinner, fun eating the people on the cake and playing monopoly for a few hours. She also went to Chicago with my mom (Mimi) on Saturday so she made out pretty good this year and had a blast. Time goes by so fast and soon she won't want me to make her a cake and do all of the cute little things I've done for her for so many years. I'm going to miss all of it but I have pictures and tons of fun memories. In the mean time I'm going to make every little moment count until I am no longer mommy, very soon I will just be mom. :(

Graduation is quickly aproaching

I received and email from the career department at school, to finish my graduation file (forms). Which means that in the next 2 months I will be done with school! Yay! Although I can't get too excited because my last 5 1/2 week session coming up very soon, has 3 classes at one time :( Boy am I scared. If I thought 2 classes were hard to keep up on, depending how difficult the class has been... what am I going to do with 3? I good friend from school is on her last session for her Associate degree and she gave a great tip to get through it.. She said "do one assignment each night just to keep up" . She's nuts! lol. This session is almost over and I spoke with her a couple nights ago, she's exhausted and can't wait until this is done. But she is continuing with school to get her BA. So no breaks for until 2010. I'm hoping that my last 3 classes are easy and run very smooth so I don't feel all of that stress. Not gonna happen lol, stress is inevitable. So very soon I will MIA to the world until March 28th and then hopefully I pass with flying colors and receive my hard earned degree! Keeping my fingers crossed! Have a good everyone!

Relaxation may come soon

The other day I found an old rocking chair that I just had to get for my husband. I had been looking for quite a long time for the right one and this was it! Since I already had mine I wanted his to be as close looking to mine as possible. Plus I already had the stain color I was going to use on them :) Now they're both stained, in my eyes, to perfection. His is much darker mahogany than mine but every couple I have seen over the years the old man's chair was a bit darker , so they turned out great. Since this was a suprise from my husband he was completely shocked when he saw it lol. Though I wish I had taken pics before I stained them just to compare but the pics I did take look fantastic (the chairs not my photography skills lol)

You can see the difference but can you also see that my chair has that antique rustic look? Darker spots and lines make this chair so inviting. Greg's may be darker but his also has the weathered rustic look . When they finally dry I will definately be relaxing and reading one of my novels and Greg will probably fall alseep in his lol. Well, time finish my to do list. Have a good weekend everyone!

Way Too Cold!

No matter how many winters I have been through , I still hate the cold! I have friends that seem to enjoy this "cool" weather as they put but I think they're all nut. I may look goofy when I dress in my kid size snow pants , scarf, hat, big thick gloves and boots but at least I'm somewhat warm. I'd love to hibernate all winter and never leave the house or better yet.. move to a warmer climate. I bundle up and my soon to be 9yr old daughter doesn't feel she has to. She says she's too hot with her coat zipped. Ha I tell, too bad lol.

So miss smarty pants that she is , she proves to me every time that she's not cold. (brat) I think even if she was cold she wouldn't admit any way. Tomorrow her class is going on a field trip. An out door field trip, yet it's going to be in the single didgits! I'm half thinking they're going to reschedule it , I think it's way too cold for a trip outside.

Her birthday is coming soon and little miss Raine is going to be 9! Wow time flies. I can remember all those cute baby things she used to do and now she's already acting like a teenager.

Aww there's my peanut..

And there's my olive girl with her step brother Ethan , goofy kids lol. Now that I'm finally all toasty warm I can do my homework I guess :( It's due tonight so I'd better get it done lol

Idiot Drivers

I had to drive my daughter to school yesterday and I actually thought the main roads had at least been plowed.. nope not in my town! So I get about 1 block away from my street and could not see due to the drifting snow on my back window from the wind and my front windshield went from clear to frosty again. What normal people do is pull over to their right or pull onto a nearby street (to the right) . That's what I was doing and I stopped my car thinking I I slid into the curb pulling over, which is fine as long as there were no other cars near by. Well low and behold there was a car behind me and slid right into me! I got out to clear off my car since I had no idea a car hit me, and this lady had the nerve to scream at me! Who hit who? Duh! I looked at her like who the heck are you to talk! I of course asked her if she was ok and I told her I wanted her insurance information , nope, she screamed a bit more , told me she was now late for work because of me! Because of me? What an idiot! Like I said in the title, idiot drivers. Now a sensible person would pull over like I did and idiot drivers will try to go around a car because they're in a hurry. Well what this lady did was try to get around me on the right while I was turning right! The funny thing was she only had a scuff mark on her bumper and I had a scratch on the back of mine lol. I told her before she left ,that there was a child in my car and things could've been worse... All she did was throw up her hands and leave lol. Next time maybe she will have patients on the road and watch where she's going.

2009 Already?!

Wow, how time flies, 2009 is already here and I'm not ready for it lol. How was everyone's Christmas ? Ours was great, the kids received all the things (acceptable things ) they asked Santa for and it was wonderful to have my step son for Christmas morning to see his face light up. I hadn't had my coffee that morning so ,you guessed it, I forgot to pull out the camera lol. I eventually did and was only able to get two pictures. One of Raine with her presents from Great Grandpa and one of Herbie eating his present. Ethan was too busy with his toys and refused to take a pic though. My mom got the kids Wii for Xmas and boy were they excited! I was asked to set it all up for them right away and of course while I was doing that they were in the kitchen teasing the dog with their skateboards lol. Yup Santa had gotten them their skateboards they asked for, they even had their names on them :)

Yes, in Raine's pic above she is holding a Harry Potter book and a chocolate covered frog! By the way she loves it and has already began reading the book. Xmas eve we spent with my family at my Aunts house, like we do every year and every year my Aunt does a wonderful job with dinner and having the house all cozy. Lasagna is my favorite meal and she makes it home made every Xmas yumm. The kids were so excited about their gifts from them and Raine had this look of "what the heck?" on her face when she opened one of her presents . It was can of olives lmao. I think Raine is worse than everyone in the family about her olives and this was the cutest gift I have ever seen her receive. My aunt is too funny. Spending the holidays with my mom's side of the family and this year we were finally able to see her for Xmas eve! It was so great to finally spend Xmas with mom after all these year of her working on those days.

Yesterday was my one year anniversary! Greg was able to take the day off to spend time with me. We couldn't really do anything but we took advantage of Raine going back to school and walked around the mall for the day. I got him a book (really cool book at that) about Vampires and I found a book with all of Emily Dickinson's poems in it for a buck! A rare find let me tell ya. I was so excited that we spent the rest of the day reading our books in peace n quiet. That's the best anniversary gift I could ask for. Well, it's time to put Raine on the bus and get crackin on my homework. Have a week ya'll!
